When you think about Bozeman, you might think about skiing, snowboarding, and making snow angels, but actually, summer in Bozeman is a magical time! The weather is perfect, the sidewalks are bursting with folks enjoying downtown, and the trails provide the perfect escape from the crowds. From annual bike races to lively block parties, this summer was no different. We were in the thick of it, participating, cheering, and celebrating alongside you all.

Let’s look back on some of the Bozeman events that made this summer a blast, and be sure to mark your calendars for next summer!

Gallatin Valley Trail Series, June & July

The Gallatin Valley Land Trust (GVLT) Trail Series is a highlight of the early summer months. This year was no exception, with two races at Highland Glen and three at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center. These races are about more than just competition; they’re about community, camaraderie, and celebrating our local trails.

Are you curious about what bikes our team rode for these races? (Yes, please!)

Missoula XC, June 8th

The Missoula XC is a significant event on the mountain biking calendar, attracting competitive racers from across North America. Unlike last year, the races were easier to follow, with fewer concurrent events and notably WAY less mud! (That mud last year, though!)

Graham took on the challenging 12-mile course on his Santa Cruz Blur. Unfortunately, Gabe had to sit this one out due to a dislocated shoulder but showed up in full force to support his friends.

Ace’s 100th Anniversary Block Party, June 29

Ace Hardware celebrated a century of serving communities, and we celebrated with them! (Psst! Did you know Owenhouse has been serving the Bozeman community since 1879?!)

Our sidewalk was lined with an impressive lineup of grills, and the food was as much a star of the show as the giveaways and exclusive offers. Local favorites, like cookies from On The Rise Bread Co. and meats from Stillwater Ranch, made it even more special! We’re not sure why we felt so full at the end of the work day…

Crazy Days, July 19-21

Crazy Days were here once again! Summer Crazy Days is a local tradition where over 100 merchants offer fantastic deals on spring and summer merchandise.

From Friday through Sunday, the streets were filled with shoppers hunting for the best bargains and enjoying the festive atmosphere. We had a great time participating with Owenhouse Ace and fellow downtown businesses!

The Hoot at Crosscut, July 27th

One of our favorite events of the year, The Hoot at Crosscut, brought friends and families together for a day of races and fun! This year’s event featured a slightly different course with 5, 10, and 20-mile races.

Bike choices from the team:

Our fearless leader, Eric, tackled the 20-mile race but, big bummer, got a flat tire! Despite the challenges, the event was a fantastic showcase of local talent and determination, thanks in part to the support and sponsorship from Owenhouse Cycling.

Big Sky Biggie, Aug 17

As summer wraps up, it’s time for one of the most anticipated events of the season—the Big Sky Biggie! This year’s race brought together cyclists from near and far for Bozeman’s biggest local bike event. The new course was a fresh challenge, finishing right in the heart of downtown, with food and drinks adding to the party.

Our Owenhouse Cycling crew—Gabe, Luuk, Eric, Graham, and Joey—took on various distances, ranging from 30 to 50 miles. We love The Big Sky Biggie! With friends and families lining the streets and cheering loudly, it was an event to remember.
