For years, Owenhouse Cycling has helped riders find the right bike, solve a stubborn mechanical problem, prepare for race day, and discover a new way to move through the mountains. Now we are bringing that same practical, community-first approach to cross-country skiing.
The move may look new from the shop floor, but it has been taking shape for a long time.
Why Owenhouse Cycling Is Getting Into XC Skiing
Cross-country skiing, also called XC or Nordic skiing, has long been part of our family and our lives. Molly grew up skiing and racing through childhood and high school. She still works within Bozeman’s cross-country ski community today. Our kids are part of the local Nordic community, and we are active skiers ourselves.
“We’re active cross-country skiers ourselves, so we know firsthand what makes this community so special.”
We know the sport from the inside. We know the joy of a good glide, the frustration of getting wax wrong, the challenge of outfitting growing kids, and the way a cold morning on snow can bring people together.
That personal connection made cross-country skiing feel like a natural extension of Owenhouse Cycling. Both communities are built around time outside, good equipment, steady learning, and people who are happy to help one another along.
Creating a More Approachable Place to Start
Bozeman already has a large, passionate, and rapidly growing Nordic community. We saw room for another local shop dedicated to supporting it, especially a shop that could welcome a wide range of skiers without making the first step feel complicated.
“We want to make cross-country skiing approachable and accessible for everyone.”
Maybe you’re buying your child’s first pair of skis.
Maybe you are trying to understand the difference between classic and skate.
Maybe you have years of racing behind you and want high-end equipment, precise service, and a serious wax selection.
All of those skiers should feel comfortable walking through our doors. Our goal is simple: answer questions, help people choose the right setup, and support them as their skills and goals grow.
What OHC Will Offer This Winter
We are building the new department to be a comprehensive cross-country ski shop in Bozeman, with support for first-time skiers, families, recreational skiers, and experienced racers.
Classic and Skate Ski Gear
The shop will carry skis, boots, poles, apparel, and Nordic accessories for both classic and skate skiing. We are selecting equipment for a range of goals, from getting outside on local trails to training and racing at a high level.
Adult Rentals and Kids’ Lease Options
Adult rental options will give new and visiting skiers a more approachable way to try cross-country skiing before investing in a full setup.
For families, we are especially excited about our kids’ lease packages. We will offer packages for Devo-aged children, along with race packages for older middle school and early high school skiers. The program features brand-new Atomic equipment at pricing designed to be supportive of family budgets.
“Kids and ski gear can get expensive quickly, and we want to make it easier for young skiers to participate in and stay connected to this incredible community.”
Kids grow quickly. Their gear should not be the reason they have to step away from a sport they love.
Waxing and Ski Service
Owenhouse Cycling will offer full cross-country ski waxing capabilities, including glide and kick wax services. Our team is pairing years of personal experience with continued training from ski and wax companies so we can provide current, reliable guidance as equipment and technology evolve.
We will also flex-test waxable classic skis and custom-mark the kick zone for each skier. Properly identifying that zone can make a major difference in grip, glide, and the overall experience on snow.

A Shop for Experienced Nordic Skiers, Too
Approachable does not mean basic. Experienced Nordic skiers will find high-end skis, boots, poles, accessories, wax, and service ready to meet serious training and racing needs.
Several members of our team are former cross-country ski racers, and many are longtime or current skiers. We understand that small details matter when you know exactly how you want a ski to feel. We are committed to staying current, listening closely, and continuing to learn alongside Bozeman’s Nordic community.
Building Bozeman’s New XC Ski Resource
Right now, the department is taking shape one rack, delivery, and pair of skis at a time. The boxes and bare walls will soon become a place where families plan their first ski day, racers fine-tune a setup, and people swap trail conditions before heading back into the cold.
That is what we want Owenhouse Cycling’s Ski Shop to become: a welcoming community hub where every level of Nordic skier can find knowledgeable help and feel at home.
“We would love for Owenhouse Cycling’s Ski Shop to become a welcoming community hub for cross-country skiing in Bozeman.”
The equipment is new. The reason behind it is not. We love helping people get outside, and winter gives us another way to do it.
