Luuk here! As a team member at Owenhouse Cycling and someone who knows the Montana race scene inside and out, I’m excited to give you all the info you need to plan your 2026 calendar! If you need advice on which race to sign up for, stop by the shop and ask for me!

Bozeman’s race season is kicking into high gear, and whether you’re looking to tackle a new gravel challenge, shred technical enduro trails, or rip through a fast-paced XC course, there’s something for every rider. From early-season gravel races to fall cyclocross battles, Montana’s racing calendar is stacked this year.

 Let’s take a look at what’s in store for 2026!

Bozeman Gravel Races in 2026 

Gravel racing is having a moment, and Montana is at the forefront of the trend. With rugged backroads, rolling hills, and breathtaking scenery, these races range from fast and flowy to brutally long and grueling.

Gallatin Gravel Series (Bozeman, MT)

Dates:

  • May 3, 2026
  • May 10, 2026
  • May 17, 2026

A local favorite, this series gives riders a mix of terrain to test their legs early in the season. Expect fast sections, long climbs, and plenty of gravel grit.

2026 Road Bike Races

Gravel Challenge — May 1-3, 2026

The Gravel Challenge has evolved into a road race that includes sections of gravel, making it a unique event that rewards both strong legs and confident bike handling.

The Roadeo — June 13, 2026

The Roadeo is a staple of the regional road racing scene and continues to attract competitive riders from across Montana and the surrounding states.

RATPOD (Ride Around the Pioneers in One Day) — June 27, 2026

RATPOD is one of Montana’s most iconic cycling events. Riders circle the Pioneer Mountains in a single day, tackling big climbs and long miles with incredible scenery along the way.

2026 Montana Mountain Bike Races & Endurance Races 

Missoula XC – June 20–21, 2026

A classic Montana XC race with a strong pro and amateur field.

Butte 100 – July 18, 2026

One of the hardest endurance MTB races in the country! This one isn’t for the faint of heart.

Big Sky Biggie – August 22, 2026

One of the most anticipated events of the season! This race offers a challenging course with stunning Big Sky views and finishes right in the heart of downtown Bozeman.

Dirt Days: Downhill Race Series

Select Fridays, July–September 2026 (Exact Dates TBD)

A brand new race series is coming to Big Sky! This 5-part downhill series is designed for intermediate through expert-level riders. Each race combines friendly competition, themes, and après with a shared passion for speed.

Cyclocross Races

Cyclocross is known for its all-out efforts, tight racing, and unpredictable conditions. If you haven’t tried it yet, this might be the year to jump in.

Bozeman’s fall race scene is dominated by cyclocross, where cold temps, mud, and barriers keep things interesting. CX is one of the most spectator-friendly disciplines in cycling, making it a great way to get involved in the local racing community.

This weekly race series brings the Bozeman CX community together! Whether you’re a seasoned CX racer or just looking to try something new, these races are a great way to sharpen your skills.

Multi-Day & Unique Events

WyMont Challenge – June 28 – June 30, 2026

Ready to break free from the typical race format? Got the legs, lungs, and love for a little unpredictability? This multi-day event will test your grit and keep you guessing!

This fully-supported ride takes you through the best of Montana and Wyoming, from the legendary switchbacks of Beartooth Pass to the sweeping roads of Chief Joseph Highway. With full route support, meals, and camaraderie built in, all you have to do is pedal, soak in the scenery, and maybe wonder why you signed up for that last climb. Spots are limited, so if you’re in, don’t wait too long!

Don’t Miss Out on Hyalite Training without Cars! 

Hyalite Canyon Road Closure (April 1 – May 15)

Hyalite Canyon Road will be closed to vehicle traffic from April 1 through May 15 this year. That means cyclists can ride the canyon without cars, making it one of the most popular early-season training rides for local riders.
